Jason Isbell is off the charts good .

I was visiting my daughter in Virginia, and we got a chance to see Jason at the Altria Theater in Richmond. What a great show!!! I have been a fan since he was in the DBT, and he just keeps getting better. This was my third time seeing Jason Isbell - Once in Freeport, Maine; once at the Port City Music Hall in Portland, ME with Amanda Shires opening being the other two. Loved him at Port City as it is a very small intimate venue, but the Altria was just fantastic for this show. As luck would have it he is coming to the State Theater in Portland, ME this October so I will make it show number 4!!! The thing I really like about Jason Isbell is that his lyrics and storytelling skills are amazing. They are straightforward, yet deep, and open to interpretation at the same time. The arrangments are incredible, with Amanda Shires (Mrs. Isbell) adding fantastic riffs on the fiddle. The band, The 400 Unit is also off the charts - is there is a better guitarist right now than Sadler Vadin? Good mix of song from his career - Through the three concerts I have been to, I think I have heard all my favorites with the exception of "In a Razot Town" - hope you add that one in when you come up to Maine!!! Then again, I'm not sure there is a bad Jason Isbell song.
